Cobija

Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.

The Bolivian city of Cobija is located 600 kilometers north of La Paz in the Amazon Basin on the border of Brazil. Cobija lies on banks of the Rio Acre across from the Brazilian city Brasileia. Cobija has approximately 25,000 inhabitants, is the seat of a university and capital of the Bolivian Pando Department. Cobija has two airports and is connected by one road to El Choro in the Beni Department. Cobija was established in 1906 under the name Bahia and received its current name in 1908 in memorial of the former Bolivian sea port Cobija on the Pacific, which has belonged to Chile since the Salpeter War. Cobija experienced a financial boom in the 1940s as the location of an India rubber industry.

Central America is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, various local cuisine, hospitality and safety.
