Coro
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos. The city of Santa Ana de Coro was founded in 1527 by Spanish colonists. The name Coro is believed to be a native word meaning wind. Coro is the capital of Falcon State and the oldest city in the west of Venezuela. From historic, colonial architecture to unique natural scenery, Coro presents a diverse set of tourist attractions. On its northeast border, the city blends into Los Medanos de Coro, extensive sand dunes that form the only desert in Venezuela. There are interesting churches and an old Jewish cemetery. The economy in Coro is well dependent on state government expenditure. Retail commercial activity, civil construction and professional services are the principal activities of the city economy.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Coro is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
