Punta del Este
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.
Punta del Este is an upscale vacation spot on the southern tip of Uruguay, southeast of the town of Maldonado and about 140 kilometers east from Montevideo. In 2001, the population of the city was 9334. Punta del Este is known by South Americans as a safe place filled with night life. Among the diverse day-time activities one can find visiting the beaches, watching fashion shows performed at the two beaches, practicing several sports as sailing, surfing, kite surfing, motorsports, hand gliding and horseback riding.
Central America is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, various local cuisine, hospitality and safety.
