Rio Branco
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos. Rio Branco is the leading city and the capital of the Brazilian state of Acre. It was founded in 1882 on the banks of the Acre River, which is passable via the Purus to the Amazon. In 2005, the population of the city was 305,731 and an area of 9,233 square kilometers. Acre is a state of Brazil, located in the north-western part of the country. To the north is the state of Amazonas, to the east is a short border with the state of Rondonia, to the south is Bolivia and to the west is the Ucayali Region of Peru.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Rio Branco is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
