Salto
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos. Salto is the second city of Uruguay. In 2004, the population of the city was 99,072. It is the capital of the department of Salto. The city is situated 496 kilometers by road northwest of Montevideo on the Uruguay River, opposite the Argentine city of Concordia. One of the attractions is thermal pools which are located close to the city. Salto is also known for its Calle Uruguay, in which locals wander during weekend nights to socialize, drink with friends.
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Salto is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
