Oruro
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.
Oruro is a department in Bolivia, with an area of 53,588 square kilometers. According to the 2001 census, population was 391,870. Its capital is the city of Oruro. The department is divided into 16 provinces. In that include Atahuallpa, Litoral, Puerto de Mejillones, Sebastián Pagador, Tomas Barron etc. Bolivia is bordered by Brazil on the north and east, Paraguay and Argentina on the south, and Chile and Peru on the west. Bolivia is a landlocked nation, it lost its connection to the Pacific coast in the War of the Pacific in 1879. However, it does have access to the Atlantic via the Paraguay river. The west of Bolivia is situated in the Andes mountain range, with the highest peak, Nevado Del Sajama at 6,542 metres located at the department of Oruro. The west of the country is formed by a highland plateau, the Altiplano.
Oruro is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Central America worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Central America.
