Palma Soriano
Central America is the central geographic region of the Americas. It is variably defined either as being a region of the Americas in its own right or as the southern portion of North America. Physiographically, Central America is a tropical isthmus that connects North and South America. It includes 7 countries and many small offshore islands. Overall, the land is fertile and rugged, and dominated through its heart by a string of volcanic mountain ranges with a few active volcanos.
Palma Soriano is a city in Santiago de Cuba Province, Cuba. The municipality of Palma Soriano covers 1,872 square kilometers, and includes the communities of Alto Cedro, Caney del Sitio, Guaninao, Jose Marti, Juan Baron, La Concepcion, Las Cuchillas, Los Dorados, Norte, Palmarito de Cauto, San Leandro, San Ramon, Santa Filomena and Sur. The city of Palma Soriano is located on the banks of the upper Cauto River. The city was founded around 1825, uniting ranches that stood in this area, and was the place where Jose Marti was killed in 1895, in the Battle of Dos Rios. Palma Soriano is the birth place of Latin Reggae superstar Mey Vidal, Cuban Olympian Ana Quirot, as well as Cuban baseball legends Orestes Kindelan and Antonio Pacheco, among others. Palma Soriano is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Central America worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Central America.
