Devil's Gate: An Impossible Love


The Devil’s Gate (Puerta Del Diablo) is located at Los Planes de Renderos. According to the legend, during colonial times, El Parque Balboa belonged to the Renderos family. Since the devil wanted to conquer this family’s girl, her father and some neighbors decided to pursue him across the whole community and because he had no way to escape, he broke a hill that today is known as Devil’s Gate because the rock formations at El Chulo hill had a curious arc form.

There, the main tourist attractions are the Salvadorian typical dishes like pupusas. Besides, you may find different corn recipes in many restaurants. Another aspect that visitors love about this place is its natural environment and pleasant picnic areas. If you are a lover of adventure, you can climb to the highest viewpoint around 1,170 meters above sea level wherein you will observe a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains and city.
